Work experience
2009 – present: Adjunct Instructor of English
I teach writing through a local community college program at a state penitentiary. Specifically, I teach ENGL 101 and ENGL 102: Personal Writing and Research Writing. Technology resources are limited, so students write and revise papers for a final portfolio.
2007-2009: English Teaching Assistant
I taught writing while receiving my master’s degree. Specifically, I taught ENGL 101: Freshman Composition, and ENGL 105: Composition for ESL students. Students wrote critical, digital, and collaborative papers for these classes.
2004-2007: Copy Editor
I copyedited magazines, brochures, and other direct-mail pieces for a local publishing company. In addition to copyediting, I provided customer support and service to our clients to ensure we fulfilled their requests and kept them apprised of the publication process.
2003-2004: Adjunct Instructor of English
I taught freshman composition-level classes at my alma mater. Specifically, I taught ENGL 121 and ENGL 122: Personal Writing and Argumentation. Students wrote essays and debated social issues they voted as relevant to their lives.
