Not a facebook status

I’d like to know what the fuck is up with Facebook. It has obviously accessed my contacts list from my Gmail account (which is a friend search option I NEVER enabled), and now I’m getting “suggestions” to be friends with everyone I’ve ever e-mailed: students, colleagues, the merest of acquaintances. Haven’t found anything on Google to say that others are noticing it, so I guess I’ll keep digging…

Well, now that you mention it, I did notice a weird friend recommendation on Facebook. There is someone I went to a technical school with back in 2001 that I shouldn#39;t be getting a recommendation for because a) I haven#39;t listed that school, b) no mutual friends or even friends of friends and c) I#39;ve never emailed that person from the account that is attached to my facebook. br /br /Curiouser and curiouser.

I come to your post from google after searching for quot;facebook can pry into my gmail contactsquot;.br /I have a facebook I have never use, signed up under a pseudonym just so I can play around with photo uploading and the api. I haven#39;t a single friend on it. No-one knows I#39;m on fb. Yesterday I logged in, and it suggesting people from work, family members, other friends. Yikes! The only explanation I can think of is that it is somehow snooping a look at my gmail contacts – something I haven#39;t given it permission to do. It certainly doesn#39;t know my gmail password. From my limited knowledge of the google data API, passwords are required to look at this stuff. br /br /I#39;m more than a little concerned.
