Is it okay to de-friend someone on Facebook if she uses a 15:5 ratio of exclamation points to sentences? No? Okay, then, what is the proper protocol for informing someone that she has exceeded her — nay, THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF FACEBOOK’S — exclamatory quota?

every time i write an email to you or your husband i read it again, and replace several exclamations with periods, even if it then reads like i’m angry. it’s worth it. (see, that would have been an exclamation.) ((that too.))

Yeah, working in customer service instilled an exclamatory habit I’m still trying to break. I use ‘em from time to time, but never like this!!!

(Seriously, how does one decide exactly how many exclamation points to use? Is three sufficient? I rarely see two…)

Maybe she’s in training to become a youth leader. Every camp brochure I read growing up was littered with exclamation points.

well, things do look best in odd numbers, so if not one, it almost has to be 3 or 5.

I use three exclamation points to convey pissed off, not excited.

What I have to work on is my use of the ellipsis.
