in which I explain my previous post, briefly
with the singular exception of the election results, this is a terrible week. i STILL feel like crap, my students are obliterating my last nerve via text messaging in class (SERIOUSLY: HAVE YOU NO SHAME? OR ATTENTION SPAN?) and i’m tired.
bright horizons: veteran’s day coming up (no class); daniel craig/james bond returns on the fourteenth, and thanksgiving vacation is looming. (ha. “vacation.” i crack myself up.)
Ah, the cynicism for Thanksgiving “break” that can only be expressed by a graduate student . . . five entire days to grade papers or, if you’re really “lucky,” write your own!
I sense I am not helping, so I’ll stop now. I hope you feel much better.

Yup. On my “break” I get to grade an entire set of papers (pending the idea that I finish the set I have), read two books and plan a group presentation, and write a seminar paper.
Why am I doing this, again?

Look on the bright side: you can start counting down the months, weeks and days until you’re done and never have to do this again. (Well, except for grading papers, ’cause the whole teaching gig kinda dooms you to that part, unless you can get your TA to do the grading.)
